Wine 2.0

Name the top 10 hottest small "unknown" wine brands!

Ok, so everybody and their sister knows Silver Oak, Opus One and the other top brands out there. But who can come up with the next "unknown" brand about to take the wine world by storm?

We'll compile a list of entries and whittle it down to the top 10 leading up to Wine 2.0 New York on Sept 18th.

Let the name dropping begin!

Aaron of course! A Petite Sirah exclusive brand, that's hot!

Others who I believe make fantastic, edgy, and well balanced wines include

Tablas Creek - Doing things nobody else is in the Rhone world, impeccable balance, they dont go over the top like so many other Rhone producers in Paso (like some mentioned on this board)

Zeitgeist - Awesome Napa Cab, well priced considering the fruit sources

Robert Biale - My pick for best Zin producer in the state

Behrens & Hitchcock/Erna Schein - on Spring Mountain, kick ass wines!
I'm new here to Wine 2.0, but launching a new venture exposing these types of brands in new catalog coming out in Oct...I see lots of good ones that I considered for the launch that I totally agree with ones like - Modus, Fantesca, JAQK, Due Vigne. Also several others I'd like to look into for the next project.

I'd like to add - Falcor, KIND Cellars, Chronicle, 'g' Wine Cellars, Monticelli Bros., BURLY, O'Brien Estate, and Elizabeth Spencer - to name just a few.

Keep 'em coming!

Cheers,
James

HI James - Congrats on your new venture. As a consumer always nice to be able to go to a single location for access to the, well, inaccessible. As a member of the trade, I cannot help but throw another name in the ring that, unless you have visited Martinborough New Zealand, you are unlikely to ever heard of...Alana Estate, particularly for its Pinot Noir. Excellent! It's '08 vintage is the best in years. However, I must disclose that I am an investor in the vineyard...because I love their wine. I also have convinced them to finally allocate some of the good stuff and let me introduce it to the US market. If interested, let me know. Best, Flinn
I may be a little late, but here are a few of my lesser known favorites-
Audelssa (Sonoma)
Buty (Walla Walla)
Et Filles (Willamette Valley)
Flowers (Sonoma Coast)
Fleury (Napa)
Long Shadows (Walla Walla)
Otis Kenyon (Walla Walla)
Antica Terra (Willamette Valley)
Cana's Feast (Willamette Valley)
Little Vineyards (Sonoma)
Mayo (Sonoma)
Corley Family Napa Valley, formerly called Monticello. Award-winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cab Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and delicious proprietary red wine.
Here at the store in Knoxville, Tennessee our number one selling wine that does not say "White Zinfandel" is Marietta Old Vine Red -- Also Layer Cake is a great little virtural winery from the mind of Jayson Woodbridge -- However my fav's have got to be De Trafford from South Africa, and Torzi Matthews in Eden Valley Australia
Some of my recent favorites are two local Southwest Michigan wineries: Contessa Wine Cellars and Karma Vista Winery, both in Coloma, MI.

I'm not sure how unknown they are, but I'd never heard of them prior to moving here. At Contessa, I love the Prediletto Blush and the Lago Rosso- a semi-dry Red. At Karama Vista, I'm crazy about the Starry Starry White- a semi sweet Riesling.
Megan - I was just up at your Grand Rapids International WIne and Food Festival. I was impressed by the number of excellent local vineyards. I was introducing my Alana Estate wines. Love the crowd and enthusiasm.
Here are a few bottles I decided to keep that I rather enjoyed...

Bafi Chianti Classico Reserva
Les Carrielles (France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur)
Nobili Terre a Montefioralle Toscana I.G.T. Bodegas Nieto Senetiner Shiraz Edios Reserva
