Alabama ABC bans Cycles Gladiator wine label, calls it porn

I think the Alabama ABC has been drinking a little moonshine or maybe needs to get out a little bit more. If this weren't so sad it'd be funny. Make sure you head out and buy a case before your state pulls them too!

Wow... it's appalling how stupid that decision is.
Are they going to start censoring (obviously not the ABC, but government in general) the museums, libraries, etc.? They proudly display nude images that have not been deemed pornographic, but artistic. How is this any different? How about the option of covering the label, like they do with risque magazines in convenience stores. They still sell those ... Now don't get me wrong, I am by no means comparing the Cycles Gladiator label to Playboy or Hustler but c'mon, how about some consistency. Alabama accounts for approx. 500 cases a year of Cycles Gladiator, (around $130,000 in revenue @ $11 a bottle). I know that probably accounts for a minor percentage to their bottom line, but what if this catches on and other states start just dropping them.

How about B!tch Wines, what if they deem that inappropriate? Where does it end?

Man, I love naked redheads...Just another example of why I would never want to live in the south...
It's not only Alabama. North Carolina banned our Inzinerator label. It was the best thing that could have happened to our launch. They said the label was trying to get children to drink with our comic book style labels--like Joe Camel. The irony of it was that we hired our 29 year old nephew to create a label he and his friends would like. (Of course, he was a comic book collector and gamer).

The 500 cases Cycles may lose in Alabama will be made up in publicity. People want things that are banned.
The US Gov't (BATF as it was known then) once banned a label of Ch. Mouton-Rothschild for a similar reason. It later was rescinded, but the chateau had to do a new label for the US market.

They do it because they can. So many people in government believe in the Divine Right of Bureaucrats, and with alcohol, they are allowed to operate this way.
This is serious??? Isn't Alabama were the movie Deliverence was made?? And they want to sensor art? WOW that is all I can say.

It's not just wine labels, my friends. Check out a little more information here!
