Wine 2.0

I recieved exciting news today. I passed the French Wine Society's Master-Level Rhone and Provence Exams. To celebrate, I've pulled the cork on my friends' Christine and Eric Saurel's 2004 Domaine Monitirius' Clos Vacqueyras from the southern Rhone. Tasty!!!

Congrats Bill! Nice work!
Thanks, Smoke.
Congratulations Bill. I am going to take the French Wine scholar exam the next time they offer it and will do the master of Rhone as well. Any tips or or thoughts on the experience?
Wino, I didn't take the scholar exam but it was apparently difficult from talking with those he did take it. The Rhone and Provence were both fair but challenging exams. You must seriously study the manual in detail. You can't rely on your previous experience to get you through it. It's tough to prepare for the blind tasting. Everything on the exam comes directly from the manual. You have to study to master the material and not study to recognize ( a couple quick readings of the manual won't cut it). The multiple choice can be tricky and short essay requires comprehensive understanding. After I have an exam re-cap session I should be able to tell me more. Don't hesitate to contact me later to discuss.
Congratulations! Very nicely done, you should be proud. And I hope the wine was equally as pleasing. : )
Thanks, Frankie. The Montirius was outstanding as always.
