The perfect lunch or event wine type. How would you characterize YOUR favorite rosé, and when would you like to serve it or drink it? Does packaging matter?
I enjoy rose champagne and prefer it to a blanc champagne because it tends to have a little more structure and tannin because of the skin contact and the greater amounts of pinot noir as opposed to chardonnay.
In still wines, I like crisp, refreshing, and dry. Some great choices in the cheaper range are Mulderbosch, Domaine Houchart, and Chateau D'esclans, and the occasional Malbec rose. I like rose wines when I want a chilled wine and am having food that is more substantial than just a light fish dish or something, e.g. steak salad or indian food. I usually only drink them in the summer when I'm not in the mood for a white wine, and its too hot for a red wine.
Thank you Lara. You have a pretty clear idea about what you expect from a rose wine. I will look up some Malbec roses and try them. I cannot recall that I ever have.
