What's in a Glass

I am drawing out plans for a total kitchen remodel and one of my ideas is to design a glass cabinet for  wine glasses. I simply love all the glass selections I see and have started collecting
them for this project, my question is what do all the variety a shapes do or is just for decor reasons?
