Wine 2.0

Here in the Northern California area our weather has been below average a majority of the time and with a mere 8 weeks to go for some wineries to harvest there does not seem to be the high temps to ripen the fruit on the vine. I admit I am a Harvest freak so, I really want to hear, as the year nears end what do you expect from 2009 Harvest?

Here is southern Ohio, the rainy, cool July has put things behind for this year, but given a lot of fruit. The hope is that we see the typical sunny hot days in August and September for ripening before the harvest.
We are watching our fruit pretty carefully. Despite the recent heat we have not seen much sign of véraison, but expect it to come this week. We pick fruit in Placer and Amador counties at elevations between 800 feet and 1500 feet and usually don't have much issue with getting enough heat. Our winemaker has high hopes for this year's fruit as the initial growing season was mild. The evenings have been great so I still expect the fruit to be really good.

Thanks for the info and I really hope that you both are right that 2009 Harvest will be another great year!
Sorry to jump in so late but now in October it would seem that things worked out fine...what I am hearing now is that 2009 will be a very good year (fruit wise)...the real worry should be selling 2007 & 2008 wines...for all the wineries here..."Best of luck and best wishes for real success"!
Sciandri Family Vineyards is a small family winery located in the southeast hills of napa known as Coombsville. We took some samples last week and actually are within two days of last years numbers. The berries are ripening nicely, the clusters are full and dark. 2009 harvest for us is looking quite nice.......Being in Coombsville we have a longer growing season, and therefore the fruit has more time to mature and develop the complex flavor profiles that come at the end of the season.
