Those that know me, know I can be a little snobby about wine. I suppose that's one of my many charms. I am always on the look out for inexpensive and drinkable wines; you know, a wine you can drink during the week without breaking the bank. Several months ago, I found 2007 French Maid Pinot Noir, and I am hooked!
I was first drawn to the deep red label with a woman dressed in a French Maid outfit with fishnet stockings drinking a glass of wine. It's very French in an ohh-la-la kind of way. And face it, I am a sucker for marketing and thought...sure I'll give it a try. I was amazed at the earthiness & depth of this wine with notes of black fruits and a little smoke. It goes well with food, but can also be enjoyed alone. I have now resorted to buying it by the case, as my friends and family have really taken to it.
