Wine 2.0

Greetings All,

I am new to this group and love seeing that their are so many people that love to travel the world in wine as much as I do.

My husband and I left our respective corporate jobs to follow the passion. We have been traveling full time for a little over a year now. We started with touring the US and visited over 150 wineries, interviewing winery owners and winemakers. The wine industry is fascinating and the people in the biz are also interesting people. I love it. After 7 months of traveling the US from the East Coast to the West Coast, we took off to Europe or a couple of months. Spain, France, Italy and Switzerland. We are now in Costa Rica for a bit for my husband to catch up on his writing. I work in social media consulting but like to use my free time connecting and learning more about wine and wine people. Happy to be apart of this group and meet new wine loving folks.

Cheers,

Katie

Saw your tweet this AM. You are fortunate to follow your passion We wish you the best of success in your new endeavors. We believe wine tourism in the nest step up from enjoying wine. The wine travel gives you an up-front-and-personal view of wineries, wine regions and the winemakers. If you are evern in Southern California, please visit us for some fine wines in the Ramona Valley AVA near San Diego.

Hi dennis

like what you said to Katie

I also have this dream and goal similar to what katie and her husband are doing. Have done something like that in australia and became a citizen and did a little when i went to china.

I've been to Ramona and at one time work at the San Vincente gold club and hotel. Did do some wine tasting in Ramona at some of the wineries.

I am going to ask you this question if thats okay Dennis. Have you recently thought of adding to your tasting room staff even on a part time basis. I live in escondido and do have wine expereince and education. Just thoght to ask you since the new year is coming.  I do hope to hear from you if you may be looking. my e-mail is ringhoff@hotmail.com

Hi Katie

Reading your story about you and your husband following a dream hit me because I can relate to that.  What you and your husband did by leaving a corporate job to follow a wine dream was gutsy but if its a dream and goalmthen its not. I have been thinking of doing something like thbat myself. But I don't have the funds from leaving a corporate job, I did it a different way in Australia.  Your husband a writer thats great hbecause I've been trying my hand at that. I do have one travel book published but its not perfect learned from it. My book is about backpacking around australia for 6 months staying at youth hostels and doing adventure things with international backpackers.  But during that time i also visted many of autsralia wien regions that i didn't before. I worked at a winery in the Hunter valley for 2 years besides working in the hospitality industry in sydney. I also became an australian citizen without giving up my american have dual. I've always wanted to write about the australian wine industry did some travel articles while traveling around australia.  I ahve been to china and will go again since its the next big wine industry area and tourism is taking off.  But the chinese wine consumer is still young and learning to see the benefits and the enjoyment of wine over beer.  One of my goals is to do wine tourism with the chinese market and have some contacts already.  I also plan on returning to australia to live since I can live and work there.  I've also worked at a winery in temecula califronia just north of san diego county. I've continue my wine education with courses at SDSU besides what I took in australia and the WSET out of London.  I've been to costa rica and loved it been on the pacific side.  Been to the north island of new zealand to expereince the wines there.

Its so good to knwo that there are other wine lovers out there that have a similar dream and that is of wine travel to new wine regions. I have a good friend in china who is interested in what my goal is and she will be my link in china.  I like to stay in touch and relay our wine travels if thats okay with you and your husband.  I live in san diego county north not far form the temecula wine region. If you both ever stop by please let me know would like to chat over some good wine about your wine travels and talk to your husband about being a writer. I am still having my challenges. I also have a interest in photography and have thought of putting that with my wine interest and food and tourism.  I know social media is a great netw work and contact but do you feel its a great way for combining your love interest and possible business?
