I live in London but I'm a California girl at heart, born and raised. I work in the UK wine trade (retail) but I'm really interested in how Wine 2.0 can be utilized here in the UK.
I am in London and Cambridge from the 15th to the 24th. Any favorite wine spots I should try?

hi Denise - I am in Ealing. I'm not blogging, but I am trying to keep up on some of the numerous postings from the many prolific food/wine bloggers out there. Take care. -Tom
Don't know if I'll see you at the Austrian tasting but I'll definitely be there (for your info, I'm about 6' tall, somewhat "chubby" (sigh!), have VERY short grey hair (in a semi-buzz cut), and will be spending some time around the Richards Walford and Clark Foyster tables (and others, of course).
Hope to see you there - and I've copied more info below on the Portuguese tasting.
Cheers,
Paula

New Discoveries – Portugal – Wine Tasting – February 2009
Portugal is a natural fit for me, given my passion for unusual varieties, as it rivals Italy in its variation. The wines are truly of the highest quality, are great value-for-money, and are very diverse. I’ve just started importing some wines directly from the Douro so we’ll be trying those wines as well as some others from new producers I’ve discovered. If you don’t know Portuguese wines, you’ll be surprised at how wonderful and affordable they are. If you already know Portuguese wines, this is an opportunity to discover some new producers.
*****
Each tasting features new producers, a wide geographic range of wines, and an interesting selection of the best grape varieties from the country. There will be 8-10 wines offered (or more!) plus a selection of meats, cheeses and dips to accompany the wines. The setting is informal and no experience is required. Everyone is welcome.
Booking and prepayment for the tastings is required. So phone or email to book your place and get your payment in no later than 1 week before the event. Payment can be by cheque (made out to “The Ultimate Wine Company Ltd”) or on-line. Banking details for on-line payment are as follows:
Barclays Bank plc, the account of The Ultimate Wine Company Ltd
Account number 80909742; sort code 20-40-71
Please book and pay early. If there are not enough PAID admissions one week before the event, I will have to cancel – and these wines are soooo good that cancellation would be a real shame.
All of the tastings are sit-down, tutored tastings so arrival on time is important. Please let me know if you will be late. See you at the tastings.
Paula
And I’m always available to do private tastings at any location, on any topic, for groups of 4 or more.
