About Me:
I am an interior designer with a passion for all things beautiful - to include food and wine. Having had the Irish luck of living in Europe for seven years, I had the good fortune to hone my knowledge of the many fine wines the continent had to offer. I toured both new and ancient wine cellars, wineries and vineyards in France, Italy, Spain, and Germany ( to name a few), sipping wine and enjoying the culture and food along the way. As a designer who likes to blend the old with the new, scouting out antiques for my business while in these magnificent lands, was the proverbial "icing on the cake". Now that I am stateside once again, I am enjoying the many fine wines offered here as well as those from the rest of the world. Next stop? Argentina. The malbecs from the Mendoza region are beckoning me with their spice and velvet...mmm.

Most memorable experience around wine?
While shopping for all things French in my favorite market one day, I filled my buggy with a bounty of baguettes, brie, and several bottles of Bordeaux. While waiting to check out, I noticed the charming Frenchman behind me had his cart copiously full of Californian wines. After eyeing each other's carts, we shared a good international chuckle together, all language barriers broken.

Jean,

I'll be in Ohio doing a series of "progressive bicycle wine dinners." I don't know if you enjoy riding a bicycle or not, but the dinners promise to be extremely fun. The wine... well, I am a bit biased, but it is extremely food friendly.  I hope you can make it.  I have included the link to the dinners. http://anneamie.com/biketour

Cheers,

Thomas

Hi Jean,

I'm currently enrolled in the Advanced Certificate at the International Wine Center in NYC. I had previously taken the Foundation and Intermediate Certificates. I have found the information invaluable.

I plan on pursuing the Diploma and have found that this program is most definitely worth it. As far as credentials in the wine industry, some sales positions look more toward your sales background and not so much education - but this will never hurt you. If you browse around some wine job postings, you'll see that a lot mention WSET education as a preference.

Let me know if you have more questions!

Good luck!
