Value Alert! - 90pt Stunner from Italy for $13!

I love it when I find a great value such as this wine - the 2007 Leone de Castris Salice Salentino Riserva, especially when it's from a wine region and made from a grape varietal new to me.  I'm still very much in the "promiscuous" phase of my wine lover evolution, so I…See More

Tasting An Iconic Cali Cab At Beaulieu Vineyards

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Beaulieu Vineyard (“BV”), located in the Rutherford District, in California’s Napa Valley.  BV is one of Napa’s oldest and most iconic wineries.  Georges Latour, and his wife Fernande established it in 1900.  As legend has it, upon seeing the four acres of land they were to purchase, Fernande proclaimed ”Quel beau lieu” which translates to ”What a beautiful place“.BV has at least three claims to fame.…See More

About Me:
I’m a Wine Drinkin’ Fool! I became seriously interested in wine in the last two or three years, in large part because it’s a passion my wife and I share. We’ve bought way too much wine, and we’ve got so much to learn ( although my wife is more interested in the drinking of wine than in the “technical” aspects of learning it). My wife frequently tells me that’s “too much information” when I get excited about learning more about wine…So I've started a wine blog. I'm not sure where it's going, or how far it's going, but it’s my way of letting thoughts of wine off my mind (hey did that just rhyme – guess I’m a poet and don’t know it;-), and sharing it with family and friends.

The most recent Pacific Point Wine Tasting Club meeting was a continuation on our exploration of Petite Sirah (“Pets”), more affectionately know as “Round 2 of the Petite Sirah Smack-down” (In case you missed it, the results of the first P.S. Smackdown under “Related Articles” below).

It was warm evening so we decided to do an alfresco tasting.  It was the perfect day for this fantastic 100% Petite…

Wine Country Travel – Day 1 On the Central Coast – Paso Robles!

For the last 3 years, my wife and I have attended wine festivals in Santa Barbara each summer.  Each year, on our way back to the Bay Area, we’ve stopped in Paso Robles to do some wine tasting.  Last year we stopped both on the way to Santa Barbara, and on the way back.  This year, because we’ve enjoyed the wineries we’ve visited in Paso Robles so much, we decided to skip Santa Barbara altogether and just do Paso.

On our itinerary was…
