- G'day, my name's Matt and I'm responsible for the wines we make under the Kirrihill banner, how they're made and then sold and marketed. I'm a Scot who was brought up in England before moving to the south of France for three years where the wine bug bit big time!
I spent eleven years travelling the world to wherever wine was made, selling it to the UK supermarkets and bottle shop chains. I got fed up only visiting wineries and vineyards and finally took the plunge to work in a winery in 2006. The only snag was that the winery was in Clare, South Australia! This entailed selling our house in the UK, packing our stuff into a container, air freighting the cat, dog and horse and dragging my, wonderfully tolerant, wife and son half way across the world.
The other bonus is that I now have my own small Shiraz vineyard and made my first wine from my own grapes this year!
My favourite wines come from the Rhône valley, Provence and the Languedoc Roussillon in France and wines from the Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley of course! Although, I'm always on the look out for something new!

Always nice to meet Scottish Aussies! I lived in both Scotland and Australia and love both places. Married an Aussie and have also lived through traveling with two dogs abroad (just not a horse). Nice to meet ya!
