About Me:
Michael Romano has been involved in the wine industry in many various capacities – from private wine maker, restaurant owner, wine-sales director for major California wineries, to his present position as proprietor of Romano Brands Fine Wines – an importer and purveyor of premium wines from around the world.

He began his career in the wine industry in 1975 with the ownership of a large, very popular wine and cheese café in St. James named Slaggers Café. His passion for wine was developed in his early years and enriched through his deep-rooted Italian heritage.

Michael Romano received his Wine Captain “Sommelier” certification from the Sommelier Society in December of 1989. According to Michael “learning about wines is an endless task- always exciting and always enjoyable.”

Following his passion for wine, he travels the world studying wine while representing various national and imported brands of premium fine wines. In April of 2000, Michael branched into his own development of importing and wholesaling his own line of wines to retailers and restaurants throughout New York and New Jersey. In 2002 he developed Famiglia Imports USA which imports wines from Italy, France, Spain, and soon Australia.
The latest creation of Michael’s is: Mikey’s “New York” Steak Marinade. See Mikey’s Marinade at www.MikeysMarinade.com. A celebrated chef for his family and friends, Michael has been prompted for many years to bring his famous marinades to all people who enjoy life with a flare for great flavor. Mikey’s “New York Steak” Gourmet Marinade is a complex flavor enhancer. Mikey’s Marinade turns ordinary…into EXTRAORDINARY! A true gourmet treat for those who love flavor. The launching of three additional types are now underway – a “Hot & Spicy” version of the Original Steak Marinade, “NY Kickin Chickin”, and “NY Central Park Pork”. Michael Romano performs numerous cooking and grilling demonstrations utilizing his line of gourmet marinades and recipes he developed over the years. Particularly inspired by his countless trips to Italy and France, his cooking styles lean to the nouveau-euro art of food preparation.

Hi Michael,

Portugal has many autochthones grape varieties, red and whites.
White varieties are very interesting, with very different characters, but SYRIA also called Códega do Larinho is fantastic, with citrons aromas of tangerine and orange.
Portugal Dão region has the most gastronomic wines: fresh, intense, elegant with very nice acidity, made with autochthonous grapes from very particularly varieties.
Just try.
I am a producer in Portuguese Dão region, and I suggest you to taste an old Dão.

Just see what Paul White Thinks about as:

“So far, Portugal has managed to remain true to its traditions, while at the same time offering up a huge range of distinctive grape varieties and unusual wine styles precisely when many of us are tiring of endless New World makeovers of French varietals.

Dao has a lot going for it in that respect: first rate grape varieties firmly rooted in granite-based ‘terroir’ that sparkles back like diamonds, all this shaped by a growing season that’s relatively gentler and longer than other Portuguese regions. Although relatively unknown and sometimes tricky to pronounce, Dao’s red wines offer consumers genuinely new and exciting tasting experiences.”

Visit please our web-site, for now it’s just in Portuguese, but to see photos you don’t need any translation: www.quintadaboavista.eu

Hope to hear from you soon.
