About Me:
‘Niël Groenewald is larger than life on almost all accounts. His great physical stature is rivalled only by his visceral passion for his craft as Bellingham’s Chief Winemaker since 2004. His remarkable strategic business acumen and stringent detailed winemaking is tangible in the innovation and stylistic spectrum of his multi-award winning wines under The Bernard Series label. With an Honours degree in Oenology from Stellenbosch University and in the final year of an eMBA from UCT Graduate school of Business, Niël could be called the ‘brains behind the bottle’. His tactical approach to traditional practices belies his awesome vision that is translated into his wines by measured modern methodology and fearless entrepreneurial approach. His cutting edge talents extend way beyond the Bellingham Cellar with his significant digital marketing insights and his committed multi-directional ambitions and willingness to exchange ideas. Niël makes a big impression all over the world with his engaging warmth, obvious passion and natural ability to educate and excite customers and consumers about South African wine.’

Hi Niel,

Thank  you so much for your lovely and exciting response.  It makes me feel like been there to see the harvest.  I have never been to South Africa, but if I do Cape Town and definitely Stellenbosch would be my destiny.  Your response just boosted my desire to visit.  I love wines and the wine industry fascinates me.  I will keep learning more and more and networking because only people like you on the trade have the passion and the knowledge to describe how it really is.  South African wines are fantastic and I have tried a few times and looking forward for more.  Enjoy the harvest and I wish you good luck on the final wine!!! I am not in the trade yet, but thinking a lot about it..the only problem is, I would have to relocate and I like living here in Washington, DC...I will see and I will keep in touch.

All the Best,

Alice.

Hi Niel,

It seems that you have it all, living on a very prestigious wine growing region in South Africa and by the way I have tried and love Chenin Blancs from Stellenbosch, and attended Stellebosch University, one of the best Oenology programs in the world.  I am curious, how is it there? I heard the city of Stellenbosch is very beautiful with an architectural complex of colonial Dutch houses!! and many wineries near offering wine tastings! would love to hear back from you.  I am a wine lover and consumer who has studied the wine industry extensively and I am looking forward to learning more! networking is a good way to go..............

Best,

Alice.
