My wine journey started almost 10 years ago when I was invited to make wine in a garage with a family friend. From the first day I was captivated. While selling and marketing enterprise software during the 90's was the ride of a lifetime, wine has proven to be very grounding to me. Having been raised by a family of fruit orchard and dairy farmers, making the move to grapes has been a joy. In fact, one of my very first jobs was picking cherries for 10 cents a pound. My compassion for the day laborers that work our vineyard is very real for me.
Making the move from Silicon Valley to Napa Valley was quite easy for me. Within just a few years my wife Lisa and I moved to her home town of St Helena. With our extended family living here and our children being raised here, wine country is where we will stay.
In 2003 Lisa and I founded Redmon, our family wine brand. We now produce close to 1,000 cases that include Chardonnay, a Cabernet blend, and our estate single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Having studied chemistry and microbiology in college makes wine making all the more enjoyable.
While we are working hard at Redmon, it does not yet quite yet pay the mortgage. I am fortunate to be employed with eWinery Solutions and Elypsis where I have the opportunity work with vintners all over the world helping them evaluate and implement eCommerce, POS, wine club, and winery accounting and inventory management software. I am also an active member of the Napa Valley Vintners Association.
