Hi Sarah -- sweet! Looking to start the group up in Mid-May. I'm currently in transition/moving, and should be out of boxes by then. ;) I will definitely let you know when we get ready. Glad to meet you, looking forward to seeing you…

Hi Lisa, Great! Do you know John Ospina? It looks like you were in the same WSET class? Cool, will let you know when we start it up. I'm remodeling and once I'm moved back in, we'll start up. Most likely May. :) I look forward to…

Where is Red House, I haven't heard of it? Did you get a job? If so, that's very cool! Let's go skiing too!

Shellie, I have not yet made a decision whether I'll attend the wws holiday event either. It will depend on if my dear friend Steve wants to go. He lost his wife recently to pancreatic cancer and may not be ready for that much social activity. I have never been to WallyWorld but it is high on my list. After being out racing the sailboat this past weekend I am really looking forward to being a homebody. Still have much to do in our new kitchen before ski season starts. I saw black mission figs in the market last evening and I want to make a chicken dish with port, onions and the figs. I spoke to the guys on the boat about possible pom positions, nothing really promising immediately but F5 is really a great place to work. Thank you for the note, I really look forward to becoming better acquainted as I am certain we can learn so much more about wine, food and the other pleasantries of life while enjoying good company. I just picked up the wine that I had purchased at the Small Vineyards tasting. For what occasion would you recommend that we drink the Monster? Tonight perhaps with a monster O victory!

Ciao

Shellie, have you attended any of the 'women for winesense' events? The holiday event will be at Kaspars on Nov 10th and will be featuring Bill Owen's OS wines. It would be fun to see and shaare a glass with you there. The particulars are at this link

Cheers

Oh Shellie, our kitchen is so beautiful! When I arrived home last evening the electrician had left the undercabinet lighting on a medium-bright setting which made the Calcata marble countertops and crackle tile backsplashes pop and the dimmed overhead alabaster lights provided a warm golden glow in the room. I just stood and stared and played with the gas cook top and hood. I'm going to have to learn how to cook all over again.

We had a great time at Purple. It is a little more upscale than I care for but the food was fresh and excellant. I had a monkfish that was paired with a Washington Chenin Blanc. I didn't see the label as it was served by the glass and because I am very visual I don't remember the winemaker. Anne had saltimbocca with a Washington CabSav that was one of the wines in the flight we had with our appitezers. I drank backwards with the red flight first, a dinner white second and finally prosseco with a pear/quince crisp dessert.

Last evening we saw the Dirty Dozen Brass Band at the Triple Door, my happy birthday to me present. The DDBB hadn't performed in Seattle for many years. We had a bottle of Kyra Sangiovese, Wahluke Slope, Washington, 2005 with our dinners of wild ginger duck and mandarin chicken. If I had to choose only one varital it would definately be Sangiovese.

I love your pictures. I wish they had captions. And yes I will just have to go back to Italy, but before I do I will have to upload some of the 600+ pics I took when we were there.

I hope your living situation improves soon. I realized just 2 days ago that what has been the most difficult part of our remodel for me was that my home office has been our temporary kitchen and I haven't had a private place in our home for these 3.5 months.

Tonight we stay home and celebrate! Champagne in the Vera Wang stems!

Drink some good wine and have a great weekend.
