I KNEW I was severely allergic to cats, but had no idea I was allergic to dogs. My allergist told me to "get a goldfish." I am not a woman who is easily deterred, so I did a search for hypoallergenic dogs. I found Australian labradoodles and, long story short, we imported Daphne Shiraz in 2000. Doodles were developed for the asthmatic disabled as service dogs, but they found a much larger market in selling doodles to asthmatics without disabilities. Daphne is now 9 1/2 and we have a 3 1/2 year old doodle, Chloe Merlot, as well. I have never had a minute of asthma with either of them.
