Valley was right next to me at Vintage Ohio. Unfortunately I didn't get to sample any as I was working in the retail area. I've had that Roussanne/Marsanne blend from Kinkead! Actually passed it blind at a Rhone tasting, and my group of…

When you get to the Ohio River Valley, you need to stop by Valley Vineyards in Morrow. Lots of choices and good wines like their Cab Franc Rose and my favorite is their Cab Franc or Reserve Cab Sauv. Then take a trip to Ripley and see Kinkead Ridge…

Certainly Tom - like any other wine that changes from time to time. Currently I'm a little biased towards the Riesling we make at Grand River Cellars. Self-promotion aside though, I'm a huge fan of the red blends at South River, and dry…

OhioWineGuy commented on Lisa Grezo's blog post 'Your favorite wines turning to plastic bottles??????'
Interestingly, the plastic bottle thing is not green as some say it is. It is mainly for cost reduction and shipping cost reduction. For so many years glass was the "green" solution because it was easily recycled. Now suddenly we're…

OhioWineGuy replied to Patricia Appelquist's discussion 'Year End Giving and Getting. What is this year's Harvest can we expect?' in the group Wineries, Marketing and Emerging Media
Here is southern Ohio, the rainy, cool July has put things behind for this year, but given a lot of fruit. The hope is that we see the typical sunny hot days in August and September for ripening before the harvest.

NV-Lost Vineyards Shiraz-Cab Sauv Blend-Argentina

Had this with baked salmon and it was actually quite good. Smooth and mildly tannic with nice finish.

Cincinnati International Wine Festival 2009

What a great time! Over 130 wineries represented at this annual event. The buzz is almost gone after sampling over two dozen wineries from all over the world. I hated to do the swirl, sniff, swig and spit routine, but I would have never been able to get around to the 16 wineries I selected to taste if I didn't. There are only two hours in each Grand Tasting to wind your way through the local convention center and taste wines from the Meeker Winery, Coppola, Mondavi, Moet Hennessy, Fess Parker,… Continue

I've had that Roussanne/Marsanne blend from Kinkead! Actually passed it blind at a Rhone tasting, and my group of French speakers preferred it over 2 other whites!

Thanks!

Certainly Tom - like any other wine that changes from time to time. Currently I'm a little biased towards the Riesling we make at Grand River Cellars. Self-promotion aside though, I'm a huge fan of the red blends at South River, and dry whites from Laurello and St. Joseph. Unfortunately I don't get lots of opportunity to go out and taste/visit, but those come to mind immediately. Really need to make time for a trip to Buccia, Markko, and Matus soon. Not to mention down to your area - have never been. What do you recommend?

Hi Tom - I'm over on the east side in Withamsville (off Beechmont - not as far out as Amelia). Where are you located?

That's pretty much what I thought. I think a lot of kosher wine is made from the concord grape. But the other wines you mentioned sound intriguing, I'll have to keep an eye out.

No, that wasn't too long at all. They make wine from the concord grape? Is it any good?
