Wine 2.0

I am a seafood lover, and I often say out loud and in my head that I live in the wrong state.  My dream would be to live near the ocean where fresh seafood was at every market and at an affordable price.  Well with that aside, Sprouts recently had Dungeness crab on sale, and we decided to take the plunge in both our wallets and with our culinary skills.  We bought two crabs to see what we could do.  Luckily they were not alive but flash steamed already, because I do not think I could have killed the poor thing, it was bad enough re-steaming it and breaking it apart.

The worst part for me was that it had eyes still, which gave me the creeps so my husband had to crack open the shell body.  I think it is kind of like breaking down a chicken for the first time, it really grosses you out, and makes you queasy, but then you get used to it and it no longer bothers you.  So anyways, he washed and separated the body from the legs, we then made a ghee butter sauce to dip in.  We ate the legs at the table and saved the body for the crab cakes we made the next day.  I must say it was a memorable meal, worth every penny spent, and every bite was perfect.  My son (he will be four at end of this month) loved the entire process of the crab eating, from picking out a leg, to pounding it open, to devouring it with the ghee!  I think by the time the meal was over he ate more that we did! And the crab was sooo good, just like I remembered the first time I had it in San Francisco.
