We are excited to announce our appointment as the exclusive importer of
Mvemve Raats MR de Compostella to the USA! This critically acclaimed
Bordeaux blend from Stellenbosch, South Africa, is a collaborative
effort between friends and winemakers Bruwer Raats and Mzokhona Mvemve.
The 2007 release of MR de Compostella will be available in major US
markets beginning September 1.
The boutique bottling has already established an impressive track record
as one of South Africa’s most consistently high-scoring wines,
achieving 93 points ratings from Wine Spectator in its first three
vintage releases (2004, 2005 and 2006). With a suggested retail price of
$59.99 per bottle, MR de Compostella will be the most expensive
offering in our portfolio.
Bruwer Raats is the owner and winemaker of Raats Family Wines, where he
has earned a reputation for top notch Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc.
We have been the exclusive US importer for these celebrated wines for
nearly a decade. Raats is also the winemaker for our Indaba Wines, where
he oversees all sourcing and production. Mzokona Mvemve was the first
recipient of the Indaba Scholarship, and upon graduation from
Stellenbosch University, he became one of South Africa’s first qualified
black oenologists. He went on to become the winemaker for the Indaba
brand, a post he held until 2005. Given the long-standing ties Cape
Classics has with both Raats and Mvemve, all parties involved are
thrilled to have this opportunity to expand their partnership.
