It's no secret we like big wines. Some may even call them "manly wines." One of our all time favorite Murphy-Goode wines is the 2006 Alexander Valley Merlot. There was a lot of thought and intention put into this wine and you can taste it. Hailing from the Alexander Valley, these grapes were grown from bench and hillside vineyards in rocky soil, resulting in an a big, earthy, herbal red wine (our favorite) chock full of tannins (think blackberry, bay, and thyme). The nice thing about this wine is that the tannins aren't too overwhelming. In fact they're silky smooth, lending themselves to the overall complexity and richness of the bottle. These supple tannins allow for early consumption but the wine can, and will, benefit from some aging. This is one of our favorite wines to pair food with because it's extremely versatile: bring it to a friend's backyard BBQ, pair it with your mama's famous ragu, or just drink by itself; you won't regret it.

I know right? Could these guys be any nicer? BTW, you can thank us later for informing you about this Really Goode Deal. Perhaps over a bottle of wine?
