What are the chances of meeting the Jackson Family Sommelier on his way to Aspen when you are one of the candidates applying for the Murphy-Goode Dream Job? My husband and I were flying on our way to Denver from Dallas this morning when we overheard a gentlemen invite a couple to a tent for a wine tasting. Our ears perked up so we asked the gentleman if he was a chef heading to Aspen for the Food & Wine Classic. He said "a sommelier" and we said "better yet".
The conversation continued and within minutes he knew we were serious about wine, since Dave, my husband, owned a wine store in a Dallas suburb for years. He introduced himself as Eric Bierbrier better know as E.B. and said he worked for Jackson Family Wines. I piped up to say I applied for the Murphy-Goode Dream Job and he wished me luck and said I had his vote. This all happened as we were exiting the plan.
As we continued to walk to our gates, I mentioned I applied because I am a writer. I said keeping up with all the social media takes some writing skills and a creative take on wine and food. We wished him well and parted ways.
I featured Murphy-Goode in my two cookbooks I've written because we carried Murphy-Goode at Caviar to Cabernet so we've been fans for years. We sure wish we could be at the Liar's Dice event from 2:00 til 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. Dave's fishing and family is the reason we headed to Colorado to start. Of course, we would love to be in Aspen, but we are several hours away. Maybe next year.
Coincidences are a wonderful thing. If you are constantly paying attention to your surrounding, you'll have the content you need for social networking. Cheers all!
