Wine 2.0

I believe that it is okay to celebrate or let people know you like wine. What I apparently forgot that sometimes my boss will read about my love for wine. My sister will read it and a few innocent, well meaning people will read it and....make assumptions.

Hence, I got a job, I don't drink wine at my job and my job doesn't involve wine but I didn't stop drinking wine and I do not drink wine because of my job.

Yet, I got this little reminder the other day about my affection for Champagne and wine and other spirits " you know there are a ton of calories in wine that is why you are gaining weight".

After a couple of minutes of silence from me because I did everything in my power not to remind the person that my parents have passed away and I am an adult and well...I think you get the picture I felt defensive/offensive and well I had to stop and think...

"Do I sound like I go home every night and drink the whole bottle of wine?"

Maybe.

The reality is I usually reserve the wine for a cheese plate or a great meal of steak or splurge at a restaruant and enjoy wine.

So how does this effect my job. Well, it may effect my ability to get a job I just hope like Sherry Sharrod that most people will look beyond my affection for wine and look at the 1001 other talents and abilities I have to bring to the table.

Very funny Jim, but with unemployment camping out at 11% here in California a job with drinking priviledges seems to be counter productive unless of course you are going to be an entreprenuer farmer can start making wine :)
And since unemployment is so high, do you think you could job share one of those jobs? Think of your liver.

Hi Patricia..It sounds like you need to get a wine specific job.I have two jobs.both of which I drink lots of wine and get paid for it. Its one of the reasons I love to go to work. If you are drinking too much, This is a different
thing all together. Certainly you must maintain a level of professionalism. Though I drink regularly at both my jobs, I never over consume and always keep perspective. I drink about 4-5 bottles of wine a week. They always include a great food pairing. But please dont ever apologize for an appreciation for wine.
