Just when we thought the economy was bust with over-priced wines with
a broken demographic of silly labels and mass production my hero shows up! These are the wines of South Africa! For pennys on the dollar
you can get a high quality wine and simply be wowed at with your palate. Example A. Kanu Chenin Blanc. Not only is this a pure
representation of the varietal but it is so much more. Big notes of green apple, lime amd lemon all wrapped around a core of minerality. Oh by the way did I mention it was only $8-10 retail?
Example B. Rupert and Rothchilds Classique. This is a beautiful blend of Cabernet and merlot that overwhelms the mouth with big smokey fruit and fresh spices. It is a must try at around $14.
I could go on and on..but for now I think I have found my refuge
from the mountain of price increases out there. The answer is wines from S.A. Cheers!!
