I think what the folks over at Murphy-Goode and their team are doing is genius (www.areallygoodejob.com). They took a great idea (The Australian "Dream Job" campaign) and put their unique spin on it. It's the American way and while making my one-minute video application, I tried to do the same.
I've got say, I really like the "skit" applications that have been submitted. I grew up watching SNL back in the day and love a good comedy sketch (especially the commercial parodies). Even though we're not sure if these guys and gals have the skills that it takes to do the job, we do know that they are entertaining, imaginative, and probably people you'd want to work with. Personally, I didn't choose this route because, well, I pretty much, keep it real.
I did, however, want a gimmick that my audience would remember. I'm a product of the seventies and I remember a shampoo commercial from nearly thirty years ago. Do you remember this commercial?
In addition to illustrating my credentials and marketing track record, I choose the "so on and so on..." campaign to illustrate viral marketing. Back in the day, we told two friends (via word-of-mouth, telephone...) and so on and so on. These days, we tell two hundred friends (via twitter, facebook...) and so on and so on.
Even though I was born the year the first video game was released...
and this was my first camera...
I still love to keep up with the times (yeah, I've been rock'in the iphone for over a year now and I barely leave the house without my Apple G4 laptop...).
