Wine 2.0

I pulled a Mel Gibson the other night while brainstorming ideas for my application video (for Murphy-Goode Winery's "A Really Goode Job"). I was sitting home alone with my laptop, researching my competition, watching other application videos. I watched several in a row and most of them, during their one-minute, were enjoying a glass of Murphy-Goode wine.

I felt the urge coming on to enjoy a glass of wine with my fellow competitors via the web. My mom and I had visited the Murphy-Goode Winery (Diane was pouring) and bought a couple bottles. I had one left, a bottle of 2004 "All In" Alexander Valley Claret. I thought, "Should I open this right now?" It was sort of sentimental. My mom and I had spent the day together in Healsburg when I got it, I spent over thirty bucks on it, and I guess I just assumed I'd share it with friends (maybe even to commemorate my being "All In").

"Ah, what the heck?", I opened the bottle. After all, I was commemorating being "All In", right? According to my sources (the internet) Winemaker David Ready, Jr. "handpicked his favorite lots to make this composition 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19.2% Merlot and 12.8% Petit Verdot". This wine "is substantial enough to stand up to full-bodied food preparations" and it is recommended with classic cuisines such as, roast rack of lamb, grilled steak, or duck in various preparations.

Mind you, I was at home alone. I had just come back from a trip and there was barely a block of cheese in my fridge, let alone a roast rack of lamb. Like I said, I pulled a Mel Gibson...In the movie, "What Women Want", Mel Gibson's "ad exec" character is given an assignment by his new boss (Helen Hunt). He is required to come up with creative campaigns for selected products (sound familiar?) So, in the privacy of his own home, he evaluates them. (If you haven't seen this movie, rent it. It's a marketing must!) The evening becomes an entertaining...shall we say... hot mess.

If you're following me on Twitter, http://twitter.com/malama_pono#/malama_pono you already know that I enjoyed the bottle of "All In" by myself with a bowl of Shredded Wheat. Tragic, right? Hey, Sarah can relate. http://twitter.com/SarahKSilverman

BTW, If you want the "hot mess" details, it might have to be over a of glass wine - body language and facial expressions may be necessary for this story.

Are we making "what women want?" Hope so... we're thrilled that "All In" is bringing us all together!
