Whilhelm Weil of Weingut Robert Weil, a much lauded wine estate in Rheingau, Germany is noted for their rieslings. Whilhelm, the fourth generation winemaker of the estate (he is the great grandson of the original founder, Dr Robert Weil) shares the story behind the beautiful blue label on the bottles, an original design from the 1870's when the estate was founded. Wilhelm also explains why his wines are more full-bodied and deeper than rieslings found in Mosel, a neighboring appellation. He also elaborates on why the geography and typography of the hill-side vineyard drives the long hang time and late harvesting of these white grapes.
